The Business of Life

Imagine if we ran our businesses like we ran our lives!

Of course when we turn the spotlight on ourselves, so many of us are going to realise that what we are doing is just madness.

Madness? Nobody in their right mind would neglect their family, their health, their happiness to spend the best hours of their lives working on something that they don't enjoy, and isn't producing incredible results that makes it all worthwile... Would they?

And yet you and I know that this is exactly what happens far too often.

As we look back over our lives (hopefully many years in the future), when our lives are coming to an end, will it be these hours we have spent in 'busyness' that we remember fondly?

Of course not.

So why do we do it?

Maybe, just maybe we haven't considered the question, or if we have, then because everyone we know is doing the same thing we haven't looked for the solution.

I'd like to share with you some ideas to not only address your work/life balance, but cause a massive shift in the other direction:

LESS WORK! MORE FUN! BETTER OUTCOMES!
It's with this in mind we published the Business of Life, and it's with this in mind I'd like to share with you five ideas that will (if applied) make such a difference to your life and the results you achieve.

Five Great Ideas to Transform Your Life

1. Use a diary - Hold on a moment that's not the idea. Before you write anything into your diary... Do this! ...

Make appointments with yourself and your loved ones.

Book some time in for yourself (maybe the gym, going for a run, pamper time, or a hobby). If it's in your diary it will happen. Then book meetings with your loved ones (quality time, school plays, a meal out, a walk in the woods, or an adventure). If you only do this imagine how different life could be!

Then something amazing will happen; as people see that your time is in demand (they don't know that all of those appointments are with yourself and family) they'll value your time more. If they value it more, you'll be able to...

2. Charge more for your time - Even if it's just a small 10% increase...

Put your prices up! When people pay more for your time, they value it more highly, and if they value it more highly, they're more likely to do what you ask. As you charge a fairer price you'll be able to work less for better results and then you can ...

3. Do every task as if you're going to have to pass it on to someone else - Of course when you start capturing the work you've done, it'll be easier and quicker to do next time, and then you'll even be able to delegate some of your work to someone else.

So systemise what you do. By following your systems and procedures they'll produce a consistently high standard every time and you'll sleep better. And while we're talking about sleep, here's a tip that can make a huge difference...

4. Change your sleeping times -Many of the greatest achievers share the same habit, they get up early and do something. So why not start by setting your alarm an hour earlier?

In that extra hour you could learn more, relax more, get fitter and healthier, and most of all think more. Sleep is important but there will be plenty of time for that when we're dead. Many people stay up late into the night watching other peoples lives on television, as their own life is passing by. It's so important to...

5. Live your own life - And in most cases this means turning off the television set, and living your own life. So switch off the TV! Maybe plan what you will watch and watch what you plan. Imagine the time you could save.
